Schedule for academic and co-curricular activities during an academic year shall be called Academic Calendar. There will be two semesters of sixteen weeks duration each in an academic year. There will be an inter-semester break of one week. The exact date of commencement and completion of each semester and its examination shall be notified in advance through academic calendar.

Semester System for Regular Programs
Academic year for regular programs at PIMSAT consists of two semesters: Spring, summer and Fall. The time span for each semester is shown below: however a short summer semester is also offered for those students who want to improve their GPA.

Spring Semester:   February -  June
Summer Semester:   July- August
Fall Semester:  September - January

Quarter System for Executive Programs
Executive MBA and Executive MS programs follow a different pattern and consist of four quarters per year.
The time span for each quarter is shown below:

Winter Quarter:  December- February
Spring Quarter: March- May
Summer Quarter: June- August
Fall Quarter: September- November

Credit Hours
One lecture hour per week, constitute one “credit hours” as prescribed for the course. A theory course of three or four credit hours means three theory lectures per week.

Courses
A degree programmer is comprised of specific number of courses. The courses in various levels of a degree programmer shall bear specific code, a number, a short title and number of credit hours.

CATEGORY OF STUDENTS
Regular Students
Regular students are those who are enrolled in a class through admission for the first time.
Regulations of examination
Examinations and assessments / Mode of evaluation.
Internal evaluation carries 50 points and consists of the following:
1. Mid-Term / Mid-Quarter Test
2. Assignments
3. Quizzes
4. Group Discussion/Class Participation/Attendance
External Evaluation
External Evaluation consists of 50 points and is carried out by PIMSAT as final Examination.
Minimum Pass Percentage is 50% as per HEC.


Grade Point Average (GPA)

B+ 75 - 79 Good 3.5
B 70 - 74   3.0
C+ 65 - 69 Satisfactory 2.5
C 60 - 64   2.0
D+ 55 - 59 Below Average 1.5
D 50 - 54   1.0

Non Evaluative Grade:

W -With drawl (officially approved for with drawl before deadlines)
I  -Incomplete ( Registered, completed attendance, sessional requirements but did not appear in final examination)
1. External evaluation is done by PIMSAT, based on students performance in the Terminal examination.
2. During the test and examination strict discipline is maintained and violation of rules and regulations and use of unfair means may lead to disqualification from the examination, the semester/ Quarter or the entire program. The decision of the teacher/ invigilator/ supervisor shall be final and binding on the student concerned.
3. The grade point average (GPA) is determined by allocating the grade points to the respective grades obtained and using the following formula:
GPA=   Sum of (Grade point × Credit Hours) of all Subjects
             Total Credit Hours

For successful completion of Bachelors program a student is required to attain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The minimum cumulative GPA required for Master program is 2.2.
